D.I.Y MOBILE

Objectives & Pedagogy

• To provide interesting fun-filled hands-on activity for primary & lower secondary students.
• To appreciate the use of sensors as feedback to control motors for desired motion. Through experimentation, the students will attempt to bring out the best from their mobile / vehicle. 
• To inculcate creativity & inventiveness through innovative use of materials to complete the construction of the mobile / vehicle with the supplied electronic components. 
• To use of recycle materials in the activity provides an opportunity to reinforce the message of recycling as an important avenue contributing towards maintaining a green earth.

Activity

1. Each student will be supplied with a set of components to assemble a mobile / vehicle
2. Two to three students work in a team to construct a mobile vehicle using the supplied components & re-cycle material. 
3. The construction activity is divided into 3 sub- tacks:- 
   • Assembly a twin-motor gearbox or Soldering electronic circuit boards. 
     A pre-assembled gearbox or pre-soldered circuit boards will be provided depending on the task preferred.
   • Construction of the vehicle frame/ chassis & testing completed chassis.
   • Building the body of the vehicle using recycled material.
4. The teams will race their completed vehicles against each other on a track by following a 18mm wide black line on white background.
